I want to encourage everyone to attend my GAIAgps Training. It will be immediately after our general meeting, March 19. We will have a bite to eat at 5:00 pm followed by our general meeting at 6:00, so about 6:30. You will need to have a GAIA account ahead of time and be able to get onto GAIAgps.com. Bring your laptop and whatever you use in the field, a tablet or phone. You need to know how to get on Brothers’ wifi. GAIA will not work on your laptop without wifi. I will bring a projector and project my computer screen on a large screen,Read More →

I think I can speak for all, that we all had a great time with 3 days of riding. I was able to put together 6 new videos of our trips for all to enjoy, https://www.youtube.com/@arizona3060. Thanks for Red Cooney, we had a Poker Run on the last day. This was a first for me and a lot of fun even if I didn’t win. Keith MenascoRead More →

Immediately following our next general meeting, March 19, I will put on a GAIA gps class. We really need ride leaders and it is easy to do when you are able to follow your gps. I get asked all the time how I know about these trails. Where I have accumulated tracks over the years and many other people have tracks and once you have them on your phone or tablet you just follow the line. You don’t have to create the tracks but it is easy to add to them. That is really all there is to it. So, immediately after our next meetingRead More →

We have some interest which means that this event is a GO. If interested please register in the “Events” calendar and not by commenting to this post. I still need someone with an RV to take the lead in finding a place to camp. If you plan to stay in a motel, lodging is very limited and you need to make reservations now. Oatman Hotel, Restuarant, and Bar is NOT a motel. Airbnb and VRBO both have the same place listed, https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/1198615631663654953?adults=1&search_mode=regular_search&check_in=2025-04-21&check_out=2025-04-24&source_impression_id=p3_1738687060_P3DXyH-t8bbAHbFR&previous_page_section_name=1000&federated_search_id=01e63fa9-3ecf-4c8b-812c-1bcd6f24d589. There is only one place. I have a reservation at the General Store, 928-768-9448. They only have 2 cabins (and I have one).Read More →

For Premium Users, GAIA has several map layers. What I discovered for Forest Service Lands there is a map layer called “USFS Roads and Trails” which has the trails in white. If you overlay this with one of the Satellite layers (I use “Satellite with Lables”) which is green, all of the trails show up in stark contrast. If you zoom in and out you can even see road numbers. This is supposed to be the roads on the Forest’s Motor Vehicle Use Map (MVUM). When you have the layer selected you can click on it to see the map legend. Hope this helps. KeithRead More →
